What’s up everyone!! This has bee yet another glorious week in Guyana
It started out Monday night with Elder Andrews and I having another blessed opportunity to bike through a torrential downpour. That was quite fun. I was absolutely soaking wet. It took my an hour to dry out. I love Guyana 🙂
Tuesday morning we got a call from the Teaching Assistants in Berbice asking if they could do exchanges with us because they were in the area and had nothing to do. So we did some exchanges which was fun! I was with Elder Kennedy. That was a good time. After we finished those though I was hungry so I decided to make a lot of food. We then went to a recent convert’s house, where she fed us a big bowl of soup. It was grey, and there were chunks of something in there, and I had to eat it all. So, yeah…I went home after that and wanted to die.
The next day though this dude gave us a free taxi ride to Giftland so we could go shopping! He’s a nice fellow. Said he loves missionaries cause we’re doing good work. As we were biking later that day though, I had a blessed opportunity to kick a goat in the face! Let me back up though. So here in Guyana there’s a lot of animals everywhere. I’ve seen dogs, cats, birds, goats, cows, horses, bats, lizards, sheep, and probably more but I just can’t remember right now. So a lot of stray dogs are pretty angry, and when you pass by on bikes they chase you and bite at you. So you swing your foot out and send a little message. Well I don’t know if I offended this goat or what but it came right for me! So to defend myself, I stuck my foot out and kicked it in the face. Gotta love Guyana right?
Saturday afternoon we were in Cummings Lodge (which again is like a 40 minute bike ride) and suddenly BAM. My bike handle broke off. So I was left to bike home with only the right side of my handlebars. We were busy yesterday, and so today we’re going to have to fix it today. So I biked yesterday and part of Saturday with one hand.
We were fed a ton of food this week! We stopped by the Young Men’s President’s house to see if he could come teaching with us sometime and his wife made us rice and fried fish randomly. It was really good though. Then later that day we stopped by to say happy birthday to the son of two of our investigators, and they gave us chicken and curry and ice cream and then gave us cake and other treats in a little to go box. So we got fed a ton! It was great.
2 Nephi 18:17 says, “And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.” That really stood out to me this week. I’ve made it a goal to wait on the Lord. The Lord has his own timing for all things. This work is his, this world is his, and we are his children. He has a plan for us. The center of that plan is his son Jesus Christ. I love you all and I hope you have a fabulous week! It’s through Jesus Christ that all things are made right. So turn to him, and if you’ve already turned to him, then take a step closer to him. Loves!!
