What’s up everyone!! This has been the weirdest week of my life…a week ago I was at home and now I’m in the Dominican Republic, and it isn’t anything like I thought it would be. The MTC here is tiny. There are 55 missionaries total, and only 6 (including myself) aren’t learning Spanish. The MTC here is really only the 4th floor of the building here. The first is the visitors center for the temple, which is right next to the MTC. The second and third floors are for temple housing. So the MTC is only the 4th floor. It’s super humid here. Every day we have about an hour for gym time and I always go outside and play basketball with little Dominican kids. After about 40 minutes I’m completely drenched in sweat. It’s fun haha. I love playing basketball with them though! They kinda play it without any rules and it’s complete madness and chaos and it’s so great!! I’ve had rice and beans and chicken every day for lunch, and every dinner is always different. They have a ton of fresh fruit here though, and some of the best juice ever. There’s one that called Orange Hugo and it’s like a passion fruit/orange juice mix and it’s seriously heavenly. I will only be here for three weeks! I leave August 6th to go to Trinidad or to wherever I’m assigned while I wait for my visas. In this one week alone though I’ve learned so much! The biggest thing I’ve learned is about the doctrine of Christ. The doctrine of Christ is faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement. repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. This pattern can be found everywhere in the scriptures. When you apply it into your life then you can truly change and become like our Savior. It makes sense right? When you follow Christ’s gospel, you become like him. I’ve also learned to trust the Savior more. He’s the reason for all things. My journal entry for my first day out here, two of the first three sentences say something about how this day has been the hardest day of my life. But it’s His gospel I’m teaching and His gospel that changes us. If you don’t believe me, then pray and ask Him! Someone said yesterday that this won’t be the best two years of my life, but rather the best two years for my life. So yeah. I love you all! Have an awesome week!
